Born the daughter of a politician, Lacus Clyne is a Coordinator (genetically-enhanced human) from the space colonies above Earth known as PLANTs. An influential pacifist, Lacus is a well-known pop star in the generation of Cosmic Era. She was originally engaged to the son of ZAFT politician & Chairman Patrick Zala, Athrun Zala, but when Lacus helps the MIA Earth Alliance pilot Kira Yamato and gives him the Freedom Gundam, their engagement is anulled, leaving both to go their separate romantic ways. Lacus still keeps the robotic pet he had made for her known as Haro with her constantly.

As the strife between Naturals and Coordinators continue to erupt in the form of battles and wars, Lacus is now a member of the Orb-Archangel group along with the Clyne Faction, and fights in any way possible alongside Kira, Cagalli, Athrun, and everyone else in the closely-knit crew to keep tomorrow free and uninterrupted by the corruptions of misleading leaders.
